He also indicated his support for preserving the trees in the plat. <br /> <br />Jay Johnson, representative of Country Ridae Partnership. stated that the number <br />of proposed homes is necessary in order to maximize the use of the plat. He <br />stated that the average lot size is 2,000 square feet larger than required. He <br />indicated that Country Ridge Partnership is also in favor in preserving trees, and <br />suggested preserving the trees on Outlots A and B. <br /> <br />Mayor Duitsman closed the pUblic hearing. <br /> <br />Councifmember Holmgren questioned the reasoning for the naming of Hudson <br />lane and Hudson Street. He stated that this may be confusing during emergency <br />responses. He also spoke to the issue of tree preservation. He stated that <br />although he is in favor of tree preservation, this may not be the proper time to <br />request the trees be saved. He questioned how the developer could deal with <br />this issue at this point in time without spending a large amount of money. <br /> <br />Peter Beck, the City's Attorney indicated that the City's existing ordinance allows <br />for tree preservation. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Councilmember Farber spoke to the inconsistency in requiring park land versus <br />payment in lieu of park fand for developers. He stated that he would like to see a <br />park in the area of the plat. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dietz indicated that there were several lots less than 10,500 sq. ft. <br />in the plat. He indicated his concern regarding traffic safety in relation to the <br />number of homes in the plat. <br /> <br />Mayor Duitsman indicated that he would prefer to see park land in lieu of <br />payment. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO CONTINUE THIS ISSUE- UNTIL THE MARCH <br />28, 1994, CITY COUNCIL MEETING TO ALLOW STAFF TO DETERMINE A TIMETABLE THAT <br />WILL ALLOW THE DEVELOPER TO CONSIDER REVISING THE PLAT AND FOR THE <br />PLANNING COMMISSION AND CITY COUNCIL TO REVIEW THE REVISIONS. <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />The City Council recessed at 9:25 p.m. and reconvened at 9:32 p.m. <br /> <br />l- <br />8.1. Consider resolution aoorovina olans and soecifications and authorize the <br />advertisement for bids for the Wastewater Treatment Plant interim olan <br />imorovement oroiect <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Terry Maurer, City Engineer, indicated that the plans for the interim improvement <br />to upgrade the wastewater treatment plant have been completed and <br />reviewed and approved by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. He <br />indicated that staff is ready to proceed with the bidding and construction of the <br />improvements. <br /> <br />
