tli(

River

Police Department

December 7, 1993

Elk River Municipal utilities Commission
322 King Ave. NW
Elk River, MN 55330

Dear Commissioners:

On Monday, December 6, 1993, the "Lighting Committee" which
consists of Commissioner George Zabee, utilities Foreman Glen
Sundeen, and I met to discuss the placement of street lights for
1994. As authorized by the utilities Commission, we selected
fifteen (15) locations for consideration as sites for the placement
of new street lights.

e

In 1992 and 1993 a total of two (2) street lights were not erected
as originally authorized; one was the Jackson Ave. and School st.
intersection which was not completed because of anticipated
intersection upgrading. . The second location was an optional
intersection which we have decided to wait on. Therefore, we have
a total of seventeen (17) recommendations for street light sites.

Four of the locations where street lights are being encouraged
currently have an existing street light. We are recommending that
these locations be upgraded to higher intensity lighting and should
be counted as one half (1/2) because the power poles are already in
place. Below are our recommendations for 1994:

e

Hwy 10/Upland Ave.
Hwy 10/Xenia Ave.
Hwy 169/County Road 77
Hwy 169/221st Ave.
Hwy 169/225th Ave.
Jackson Ave. entrances to Elk River Sr. High School
189th Ave./Dodge st.
Main St./Gates Ave.
Meadowvale Rd./County Road 1
County Road 1 west entrance to Meadowvale Elementary
County Road 30/Joplin st.
County Road 30/0gden st.

1 1/2
1 1/2
1
1
2
2
1
1/2
1
1
1
1

P.O.
