The
addition of six subdivisions will add an estimated eight hours
of plowing time. Rather than require operators to put in more
overtime, I would like to suggest the following changes:

1. Change the snow plowing in the downtown area to windrow
the snow in the center of Main Street, leaving the curbs
and sidewalks clear immediately, and then returning to
haul the snow away within 48 hours. This change will
allow us an additional 24 hours to clean cul-de-sacs,
replow, widen, spread additional salt/sand and groom ski
trails. I have discussed this change with the downtown
business person's group and they are willing to try it
with us.

.

2.

Groom the ski trail early on the second day rather
late on the day of plowing. This may offer a
inconvenience for recreational skiers, but will add
hours of available plowing time for one truck.

than
minor
four

If these changes seem appropriate to the City Council, I would
ask that they approve a resolution adopting the 1993/94 snow
plowing policy with the above changes.

.

P.O.
