CU 93-29 REQUEST Betty Marx is requesting a conditional use permit to tailoring and craft business out of her home. The will involve tailoring, repairing, and altering clothes along with making custom crafts by request. is located at 82 6-1/2 Street, Elk River, (Lot Barrington Place Estates). The memo to the Planning explaining the request in detail is attached. operate a business customers The home 6, Block 1, Commission ANALYSIS e The applicant would like to work a total of 20 hours per week, 16 of which would be open to the public. The applicant will be the only employee of the business. Mrs. Marx has indicated that all of her customers will be required to make an appointment which will limit the number of people at the house at any given time. The Planning Commission felt that the hours allowed for permitted home occupations, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., would be sufficient for this business. They incorporated this change into their motion. Traffic and parking were also a concern, however, it appears that there will be ample room for customers cars in the driveway. It is important that the applicant try to keep personal vehicles out of the driveway during business hours to limit parking on the street. RECOMMENDATION The Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the conditional use permit for Betty Marx with the following conditions: 1. THE HOURS OF OPERATION BE AS PER CITY CODE. 2. NO OTHER EMPLOYEES ARE ALLOWED WITH THIS HOME OCCUPATION. 3. THE APPLICANT MAINTAIN ENOUGH ROOM IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR TWO CUSTOMER VEHICLES AT ALL TIMES DURING OPERATING HOURS. e P.O.
