CU 93-28

ISSUE

Donald Robideau is requesting a conditional use permit to
encroach on the 300 foot setback for a metal skin building and
to construct a metal skin pole building within a platted area.
Attached is the memo to the Planning Commission explaining the
project in detail.

LOCATION OF REQUEST
10654-201st Circle NW (Lot 4, Block 3, Knollwood), Elk River, MN

ANALYSIS

e

The proposed metal skin accessory structure will measure
30'x32' (960 sq ft). Metal skin buildings are required to meet
a 300 foot setback from any neighboring dwelling. Setbacks
from neighboring homes are 224 feet 133' respectively. The
accessory structure will be used for storage purposes.

One of the issues discussed by the Planning Commission not
related to this request is the high number of requests to staff
concerning metal skin buildings and accessory structures. The
Planning Commission would like staff to review the ordinances
related to accessory structures.

PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION

The Planning Commission recommended approval of this request
with the following stipulations:

1. THE COLOR OF THE BUILDING MATCH THE EXTERIOR OF THE
HOUSE.

2. THE STRUCTURE BE USED ONLY FOR STORAGE PURPOSES.

e

P.O.
