r I --'\)
( );
Iri~

ITEM 7.6.

TO:

MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL

FROM:

PATRICK KLAERS, CITY ADMINISTRATOR

DATE: 7/15/93

SUBJECT: FREQUENT FLYER POLICY

Per Council direction at the last meeting when the proposed
City Frequent Flyer policy was reviewed, I have contacted Elk
River Travel and requested confirmation that local airlines
either will or will not provide frequent flyer cards to cities
instead of to individual City employees. Feedback from Elk
River Travel was that Northwest Airlines will not provide a
frequently flyer card for a City but will only allow this
opportunity to individuals. Accordingly, the attached page
which outlines a City of Elk River Frequent Flyer policy is
recommended for Council approval. The second paragraph
incorporates the comment from the Mayor which relates to taking
finances into consideration before simply always purchasing an
airline ticket from the same airline.

.

.

P.O.
