<br />MOST COMMONLY REQUESTED POSITIONS <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />A summary of the departmental additions that have been <br />requested and/or discussed during budget meetings in the past <br />few years are listed below. I have added some comments <br />regarding some of the positions and have tried to prioritize <br />the needs using the following code: <br /> <br />1. Position needed ASAP; <br />2. Position needed within 2-4 years; <br />3. Position needed within 4-8 years; and <br />4. Position needed after the year 2000. <br /> <br />City Council - Directors or Super Department Heads <br />* Community Development Director - 2 - Based on growth and <br />development in the community and the need to efficiently <br />manage this growth; plus the need to consolidate services <br />and to reduce the number of employees reporting directly <br />to the City Administrator <br />* Public Safety Director - 3 - Should be evaluated during <br />the time that current Fire Chief, Russ Anderson, retires <br />* Public Works Director - 4+ - May never happen if the City <br />does not take over the management of the Water Department <br />* Assistant City Administrator - 2/3 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Police Due <br />are needed in <br />which means <br />annual bases. <br /> <br />to growth in the community, personnel additions <br />all police employee areas and the need is ongoing <br />the need for new positions must be evaluated on an <br /> <br />* Community Service Officers - 2 <br />* Clerical (secretaries/receptionists) - 2 <br />* Patrol Officers - 1 <br />* Special Assignment Officers (investigation officers, <br />juvenile officers, and supervisors) - 1/2 <br /> <br />Office Employees (see PDK 1994 Office Staff Memo for more <br />information on these positions) <br /> <br />* General clerical help - 1 <br />* Finance Clerk - 1 <br />* Personnel Coordinator/Administrative Assistant - 1 <br />* Community Development Director - 2/3 <br />* Planning Intern - 1 <br />* Zoning Assistant (Gary will soon be part time in the <br />Planning Department) - 2 - changing this position to full <br />time will need to be evaluated as the work load increases <br />in the Planning Department <br />* Deputy City Clerk - 2/3 <br />* Building Maintenance Employee (under supervision of Phil <br />Hals) - 3/4+ <br /> <br />- <br />
