.

OFFICE OF THE MAYOR

April 16, 1993

IMPORTANT

MEETING

NOTICE

I-tETROPOLITAN STATISTICAL I\REA (MSA) DESIGNATION
AFFECTING SHERBURNE, BENTON AND STEARNS COUNTIES

The Mayor and Council for the City of st. Cloud are in the
process of analyzing the impacts and options to the recent removal
of Sherburne County from the st. Cloud MSA into the Twin Cities
MSA.

A local task force ISSUE PAPER is enclosed along with a resolution
prepared by st. Cloud Mayor Winkelman that advocates a particular
. course of action for the st. Cloud City Council to consider.

In summary, the options are as follows:

* Put Sherburne County back in the st. Cloud MSA
* Leave Sherburne County in the Twin Cities MSA
* Put the northern part of Sherburne County in the st. Cloud MSA
and the southeastern part in the Twin Cities MSA
* Consolidate the st. Cloud and Twin Cities MSA in to one MSA
* Redefine the Stearns, Benton and Sherburne county boundaries
to consolidate the City of st. Cloud into a single county.

We would like to hear your opinion on the issues, options and
Mayor Winkelman's recommended course of action for st. Cloud to
advocate. st. Cloud is not an island unto itself - we would like to
be part of a win-win solution to the current MSA dilemma. Please
share this with other interested parties and come share your
perspective on the issue with us.

Monday, April 26th
7:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Council Chambers, st.
