TO: MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL SUBJECT: PAT KLAERS, CITY ADMINIS~~O~ JANUARY 28, 1993 ~ UPDATE ON COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT FROM: DATE: An August, 1992, Planning Commission public hearing on the Elk Park Center proposal was tabled due to insufficient information. No public hearing has been rescheduled at this time. However, the developers have submitted most of the material that is necessary in order to proceed with a public hearing before the Planning Commission. The developers are hoping to have a Planning Commission public hearing on their proposal within 4-5 weeks. Attached for your review is some of the material that has recently been submitted regarding this project. . A City requirement that is missing before this project goes to the Planning Commission public hearing, is the right-of-way for the road from School Street through the school property to the commercial development area. Without this street right-of-way from the School District, it does not appear that the project as proposed can move forward. It is anticipated that the School Board will be considering a street right-of-way proposal from the developers at the February 9, 1993, School Board meeting. While a commercial development project in this area may not materialize exactly as presented, it does appear that a proposal of some type is likely to receive a Planning Commission public hearing in the near future. It is hoped that the attachments will help keep the City Council up to date on the project as currently proposed by the developers.
