<br />Economic Development Authority Minutes <br />January 11, 1999 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />lease would be a statement making it mandatory for tenants to meet with the <br />advisory group in order to move on. <br />Commissioner Bender recommended that the committee be a part of the <br />Business Incubator Advisory Group that is already established. <br /> <br />Economic Development Director Paul Steinman stated that this could be a <br />"niche" service provided to incubator companies by the advisory board. <br /> <br />Commissioner Motin expressed concern regarding requirements within their lease <br />to meet with this board. <br /> <br />Commissioner Klinzing concurred, questioning the tenants expectations and <br />concerns regarding consultation requirements in a lease. <br /> <br />Commissioners Motin and Klinzing indicated they would like more information on <br />this issue prior to making a decision. <br /> <br />No action was taken on this item at this time. <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />Update on Position Profile for Economic Development Assistant - Jim Brimever <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Jim Brimeyer, The Brimeyer Group, Inc., was in attendance of the meeting. Mr. <br />Brimeyer explained that the search for the Economic Development Assistant is a <br />long process and a tough market. He indicated that the position is being <br />advertised in the upper Midwest for recruitment. He further indicated that he will <br />be available by fax or phone to answer any questions from the EDA regarding the <br />Economic Development Assistant position. In addition, both Pat Klaers and <br />Economic Development Director Paul Steinman may be contacted for <br />information. <br /> <br />8. <br /> <br />Other Business <br /> <br />a. Update East Business Park/Hohlen Development <br /> <br />Economic Development Director Paul Steinman indicated that City <br />A ttorney Peter Beck and staff are continuing working toward a draft <br />development agreement for redevelopment of the Earl Hohlen and <br />Vandenberg properties. An update will be presented at the February EDA <br />meeting. <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />Update West Business Park Prospect <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Economic Development Director Paul Steinman updated the EDA on the <br />T1F District No. 21, (a Rogers company to locate in the West Business Park). <br />He informed the EDA that at this time, it appears that the project is not <br />going to happen, as the company has determined it is best to purchase <br />the facility within which they are currently located. Paul Steinman <br />indicated that staff will determine whether it is best to proceed with <br />creation of TIF District 21 since it is 90 percent of the way through the <br />process. Upon approval by the Council, staff would simply wait to certify <br />this TIF District until the time when another developer would step forward <br />to propose a West Business Park project.
