RIVER STAR NEWS AS THE COMMISSIONER KROPUENSKE 7. Approval of Official Depository COMMISSIONER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPOINT THE BANK OF ELK RIVER AS THE 1989 OFFICIAL DEPOSITORY FOR THEEDA. COMMISSIONER DOBEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. 8. Reports by Various Officers There were no reports given at this time. 9. Determination of Dates of Meeting during the Remainder of the Calendar Year It was the consensus of the EDA to continue to meet on an "as needed" basis for the 1989 calendar year. . 10.1 Consideration of Expanding EDA Membership Commissioner Tralle stated he would like to see the EDA expand to 7 members in order to have more citizen input and also to have different people on the Commission other than Councilmembers. Discussion was held regarding the fact that every two years three EDA members will be up for election on the Council and that this could cause difficulty in continuity if three new people are added to the EDA at one time. Commissioner Tralle stated he would like to see two new people appointed with staggered terms that do not expire on election years. Commissioner Schuldt stated that so far there is only one item before the EDA and that there is not enough business to set specific meeting dates. Thus, Commissioner Schuldt stated he would like to see the EDA remain at 5 members. Commissioner Schuldt further indicated that because of the expenditures involved he would like to see the EDA remain as elected officials. Commissioner Dobel indicated he would like to see the EDA remain as it is for at least one more year and at that time decide whether or not to expand the membership. . Commissioner Kropuenske indicated he felt it might benefit the EDA to have some other expertise on the Commission such as members of the previous Economic Development Commission. The City Commission direction. see how the Administrator suggested that there are numerous topics the should be discussing and considering in order to give Staff He further suggested that he research other communities to HRAs, EDAs and Port Authorities are comprised.
