<br />Page 2 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Economic Development Commission Minutes <br />March 26, 1987 <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />The ultimate benefit of a housing survey <br />regarding who owns rental property, apartment <br />charged, and how the owners can be contacted. <br /> <br />with information <br />buildings, rent <br /> <br />Mills also gave a briefing to the Commission on the labor survey and the <br />business survey. <br /> <br />Mills stated that <br />unnecessary since <br />held. <br /> <br />Economic Development Commission monthly meetings are <br />monthly meetings of committees and sub-committees are <br /> <br />John Oliver gave a <br />Oliver's main topic <br />business to Elk River. <br /> <br />report <br />was the <br /> <br />on the Marketing and Promotion Committee. <br />Industrial Park and how to attract new <br /> <br />Oliver stated that he feels like a "fish out of water" on this committee <br />and would like to see someone added with promotional skills possibly from <br />the newspaper or the Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />Pat Klaers passed around various folder advertisement methods which have <br />been presented to the City by sales representatives. <br /> <br />. Lloyd Brutlag was present to represent the Finance Committee. <br /> <br />The budget was discussed and it was stated that the City would need a <br />budget for the Economic Development Commission in August. The Committees <br />should prepare budgets and give to Lloyd Brutlag with a general breakdown <br />of intent and goals as to where the money will be used. <br /> <br />5. Economic Development Commission Coordinator <br /> <br />Pat Klaers discussed the hiring of an Economic Development coordinator and <br />whether this person should be entry level or department head type. Klaers <br />emphasized that the need is there; now the dollars have to be located and <br />finding the right person for the position. The Commission members joined <br />in the discussion and stated they would like to supply input into the job <br />description after viewing sample descriptions. <br /> <br />6. Election of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson <br /> <br />Chairman Gongoll nominated Cliff Lundberg for Chairperson. <br /> <br />THERE BEING NO FURTHER NOMINATIONS. LLOYD BRUTLAG CAST A UNANIMOUS BALtOT. <br />JOHN OLIVER SECONDED THE BALLOT CAST. THE VOTE CAIUUM <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on the length of the term with the concensus being the <br />remainder of 1987 and the calendar year of 1988. A vote was taken and <br />passed for such terms. <br />
