<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />ELK RIVER PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />HELD AT THE ELK RIVER PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />JANUARY 26, 1981 <br /> <br />Members Present: Commissioners Tracy, Busch, Driessen, and Pearce <br /> <br />Also Present: Herbert S. Adolphson, Community Development Director <br /> <br />1. Meeting Called to Order <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Vice-Chairman Tracy at 7:42. <br /> <br />2. Election of Chairman and Vice-Chairman <br /> <br />Commissioner Busch nominated Vice-Chairman Tracy as Chairman. Commissioner <br />Driessen seconded the motion. Nominations closed. Motion carried 3-0. <br />Commissioner Busch nominated Commissioner Kreuser for Vice-Chairman. Commissioner <br />Pearce seconded the motion. Nominations closed. Motion carried 3-0. <br /> <br />3. Minutes <br /> <br />The minutes of the October 27, 1980 and November 24, 1980 meetings were approved <br />as circulated. <br /> <br />4. Agenda <br /> <br />Item #7 _ Discussion on number of accessory buildings allowed on one lot, was <br />added. <br /> <br />5. Sign Ordinance Clarification (Section 900.22, Subdivision 5-C) <br /> <br />Mr. Adolphson explained the need for clarification of Subdivision 5C and possibly <br />5E so that this section can properly be enforced. He said there should be a <br />determination between a sign naming the store and an advertising sign. Suggestions <br />were made that the Commissioners look at some of the signs around the City and <br />also look into the height of signs on top of buildings. It was decided the <br />Commissioners should come up with some suggestions for the next meeting. <br />Mr. Zack Johnson will be at this meeting. <br /> <br />6. Height and Location of Communication Towers, C. B., Radio, T. V., etc. <br /> <br />Mr. Adolphson said there should be some regulations on these types of towers beside <br />what the Civil Aeronatics Board puts out with regard to safety and where they should <br />be allowed. Suggestions were made to obtain copies of the C. A. B. regulations <br />and look into what other cities' ordinances are. It was agreed to look into these <br />items for discussion at the next meeting. <br /> <br />7. Accessory Buildings <br /> <br />Mr. Adolphson also suggested the Commissioners to take a look into the limitation <br />of the number of accessory buildings allowed on one lot in the urban area. <br />Suggestions were made to look into the commercial and industrial as well, and how <br />the lots were going to look. The Commissioners will look into this, and it will <br />be discussed at the next meeting. <br />
