General support for an <br />area wide recreation program was indicated at this 2/28 meeting and a <br />follow-up meeting is scheduled for April 11, 1991. <br /> <br />The Ci t.y Council indicated t.heir support of a joint recreation program <br />and also their support. in hiring a recreation employee on a shared <br />basis. <br /> <br />The Commission indicated their support for a slightly different <br />employee that would be a City of Elk River Park and Recreation <br />Director. A general job description as developed at the 2/27/91 <br />Commission meeting was distributed. <br /> <br />It was noted that. most of the proposed duties relat.ed to athletics and <br />not a broader park and recreation emphasis. The Commission stated that <br />this is the highest need at the current time and that the position <br />description would change in the future. <br /> <br />A summary of the discussion on a recreation and/or park employee is as <br />follows: <br /> <br />1. The Park and Recreation Commission recommended approval of <br />the Elk River Park and Recreation Director position. <br /> <br />I) <br />t... <br /> <br />The City Council rejected this recommendation at <br />but indicated its support for the area wide <br />posi tion as being pursued by the Community <br />department. <br /> <br />this time, <br />recreation <br />Education <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />The City Council appointed Clete Lipetzky and Roger Holmgren <br />to work on the Community Education Committee in developing an <br />area wide recreation job description and cost sharing ideas. <br />
