He also stated <br />that the recreation director should coordinate athletics and not arts <br />and crafts. <br /> <br />Dana Anderson supported the area wide recreation director. Phil Hals <br />stated that the staff has concerns with the City's ability to fund the <br />position due to State Aid cuts. Phil also questioned the possibility <br />of funding a recreation director by increasing the fees that program <br />participants pay. <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION DIRECTOR JOB SCOPE <br /> <br />Recre~tion <br /> <br />Chair Anderson listed the following areas of responsibility for a <br />Recreation Director: <br /> <br />Coordinate and supervise youth and adult sports. <br /> <br />Assist youth leagues in registration, collecting fees, scheduling <br />fields and games. <br /> <br />Verifying state and association regulations. <br /> <br />Coordinate special events and tournaments. <br /> <br />Coordinate multi-use facilities. <br /> <br />Supervise scheduling of all School District fields and facilities <br />for all youth activities. To take a block of time on each <br />facility from Community Education to work out various youth <br />schedules. <br /> <br />7. To serve as in information source for the public on park and youth <br />" . t' <br />aC"C1Vlvles. <br /> <br />8. To relieve volunteers as much as possible and make volunteering <br />more "friendly" and less time consuming. <br /> <br />Park Director <br /> <br />Chair Anderson stated the Park and Recreation position should be <br />responsible for all City parks and that it only makes sense that groups <br />using the facilities be in charge of the maintenance as who would know <br />better how to improve or upgrade a facility than the users. <br /> <br />1 <br />.L . <br /> <br />Give direction on maintenance, mowing, infields, outfields, weed <br />control, turf management, all aspects from A to Z. <br /> <br />2. Work on property purchases. <br />
