2 | P ag e <br /> <br />Vehicle Acquisition and Replacement Policy <br /> <br />Purpose <br />The City of Elk River establishes this policy to guide in the maintenance of a fleet that supports <br />the services provided to residents. The management of the city vehicle fleet is the responsibility <br />of the Public Works Department as delegated to the Public Works Supervisor in collaboration <br />with city departments. <br /> <br />The Public Works Supervisor is responsible for the effective planning for the purchase, <br />replacement, and assignment of all city vehicles. Coordination of vehicle purchases, <br />replacements, and reassignments will be done by the respective city department-designated <br />representatives and in conformity with city policy and the vehicle and equipment replacement <br />schedule guidelines. The purpose of this policy is to establish standard replacement schedule <br />guidelines for vehicles of similar types and use. <br /> <br />The Public Works Director and Public Works Supervisor shall be responsible for managing the <br />fleet and coordinating any changes in the replacement schedule. The city’s Fleet Services staff <br />shall provide integral information for the process including vehicle maintenance history, <br />mechanical condition, and alternative solutions to meet service needs.
