Brian Calva, <br />Councilmember Jennifer Wagner <br /> <br />Councilmember Mike Beyer <br /> <br />Staff Present: City Administrator Cal Portner and Records Specialist Dawn Robertson <br /> <br /> <br />I. CALL MEETING TO ORDER <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting was called to order at 04:05 p.m. <br /> <br />2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE <br />The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. <br /> <br />3. DISCUSSION <br /> <br />3.1 Consider local option for sales tax amendment <br />Mr. Portner explained the options provided by the state to extend the 0.5 percent sales tax. The <br />checkpoints for finalizing and approving the tax were discussed. The Council asked for clarification that <br />there would not be an increase in the amount of tax and that it would not extend the current length of <br />time the city is paying off the bond. <br /> <br />Moved by Councilmember Calva and seconded by Councilmember Grupa to Approve, by <br />motion, Resolution 26-07, amending Minnesota laws 2019, First Special Session, Chapter <br />6, Article 6, Section 17 to broaden the uses of the tax to include a fire station. <br /> <br />Designate, by motion, Calvin P. Portner to be a signatory for official City of Elk River <br />documents as Interim Deputy City Clerk. Motion carried 4-0. <br /> <br /> <br />4. MOTION TO ADJOURN <br />Moved by Councilmembr Wagner and seconded by Councilmemeber Calva to adjourn the <br />meeting of City Council.
