Housing Vision Statement <br />In 2035, the City of Elk River will provide a range of housing options from senior housing to entry level homes for <br />new families, and apartments and condos for recent college grads and young professionals. Infill housing develop- <br />ment downtown and in adjacent neighborhoods will reinforce the historic charm of the city and support the estab- <br />lished neighborhood character of the area. This will be complemented by the development of new neighborhoods <br />that include increased housing variety and provide more affordable options for both homeowners and renters as <br />the community grows. <br />Goal: <br />Encourage residential development with a variety of housing <br />types that fosters high-quality, livable neighborhoods to address <br />the needs of existing and future residents. <br />Policies: <br />• Target residential development. <br />• Support reinvestment and promote density . <br />• Encourage conservation design development. <br />• Foster greater housing choice. <br />32 Housing Plan • Elk River Comprehensive Plan <br />Page 82 of 110
