Electric Personal Assistive Mobility Devices <br />The state of Minnesota defines an electric personal assistive mobility device <br />(EPAMD) as a device with two non-tandem wheels that is self-balancing, <br />transports not more than one person, and uses an electric propulsion <br />system to limit its maximum speed to 15 MPH on a flat surface <br />Examples of EPAMDs are Segways, hoverboards, and electric skateboards <br />These devices are legal in Minnesota on paved trails or wherever <br />pedestrians are allowed <br />Page 25 of 57
