The original fagade is <br />completely covered by a new brick and wood fagade, capped by a wood shingled <br />mansard roof. It is not known how much of the original fagade might survive behind the <br />modernization. The original three -bay design had a central entry flanked by large <br />display windows and an upper story with three windows. The side chimney evident <br />today is seen on early photographs. <br />Significance <br />This building has lost historic integrity, although it is possible that a good amount of the <br />original fagade survives behind the modernizations. One of the earliest commercial <br />buildings in the town center that developed at Main and Jackson streets and the first <br />built after the fire of 1898, it was owned by Joseph Romdenne.
