Senior Center Advisory Council <br />Friday, January 20, 2005 <br />10 AM Senior Center 350 Evans <br />Present were: Lois Swanson, Gail Johnson, Annette Bonin, Sue Kostanshek, Mary Heck, <br />Millie Miller, Holly VanderVelden, Jay Grammond, Clinton Yancey, Milicent Busch <br />I. Sue called the meeting to order at 10 am. Minutes reviewed. <br />II. Financial statement — reviewed. <br />III. Old Business <br />A. January Main Event — 1/25 Hawaiin Luau co -sponsored with <br />Senior Dining. Senior Center decorate dining room <br />B. Review of January Events — "Author Talk" 1/11 About 60 <br />attended. Travel series starts 1/26. Sue doing Mongolia <br />program. Cribbage tournament 1/30. <br />C. Silvertones Report — 20th Anniversary celebration on 1/23 <br />Mary made a picture board, invited previous members to attend. <br />Sr. Ctr. will pay for lunches. Silvertones will do a special <br />program before lunch. Silvertones with Headstart kids in Feb. <br />Singing at Mill Pond in Champlin on 3/27 <br />D. Community Ed. Report — New classes have started. <br />Construction continues at Handke <br />E. February Main Event — Sizzlin' Saturday, Feb. 25th at 11 AM <br />Music by Terry Tunes.Sloppy Joe lunch by FIA. Door prizes <br />are new Senior Center lanyards. <br />F. Other — Still working on buying bingo machine <br />IV. New Business <br />A. Other Events in the Area — RSVP banquet May24th <br />Garden Expo at Handke on April 29th <br />B. Outings — Turtle Lake trips on 1/31 and 2/28. Planning trips <br />for the year including Red Hat/Elvis day, Amish tour in June, <br />Science Museum in April, State Fair in Aug. Suggestion for <br />Mpls.Library trip <br />C. March. Main Event — March 30th Lions Pancake Dinner <br />with free bingo. <br />D. Other — Legion Dance funds will be used to buy file cabinets <br />office table and chairs.
