Senior Center Advisory Council <br />Friday, March 14, 2008 <br />9 am Senior Center 350 Evans <br />Present were: Lois Swanson, Millie Miller, Gail Johnson, Mary Heck, June Fenstra, <br />Millicent Busch, Rita Waxon, Sue Kostanshek and Annette Bonin <br />I. Sue called the meeting to order and minutes were reviewed. <br />II. Financial statement — Reviewed. Piano keys sold are now up to 35 or $3,500 <br />III. Old Business <br />A. March Main Event —Lion's Pancake Dinner, Thursday, March 27th <br />B. Review of March Events — Art classes started at 413 Proctor. St. Cloud <br />Legal Service program was cancelled again —we are not sure if we should <br />continue to co-sponsor these programs since they have cancelled so many <br />times. Silver Sneakers classes continue to grow and we need to expand our <br />fitness area again. <br />C. Silvertones Report — Performance on March 17tn at Elim Home in <br />Princeton. Performance in Monticello on April 11 th. May 1st Sven and <br />011ie will perform. May 291h Silvertones will perform at the Activity <br />Center Grand opening. <br />D. Community Ed. Report — No report. <br />E. April Main Event — Volunteer party on Tues. April 22"d at 2pm. This party <br />is planned by staff. <br />F. Other — Sue contacted the members of the Advisory Council to seek <br />approval for using the memorial fund to purchase a reposed baby grand <br />piano that is about one year old. This purchase will save several thousand <br />dollars compared to a new one. Monies from the general fund, chair fund <br />and ceramics will also used be used for the purchase. <br />IV. New Business <br />A. Other Events in the Area — Chow Mien dinner on April 24tn at the <br />Methodist Church. Senior Day Out is May 13tn. RSVP banquet May 141h in <br />St. Cloud. <br />B. Outings — Quarterly trips to Crossroads are planned. Casino trip and <br />Czech country trips in April. Old Log Theater and Older Americans <br />celebration in May. Plymouth Playhouse and Betty Rydell trips in June. <br />C. May Main Event — Activity Center Grand Opening on Thursday, May 29tn <br />There will be a shuttle to take GA tenants back and forth. <br />D. Other — <br />V. Next Council Meeting — Monday, April 21 St at 1 pm at 413 proctor site. <br />VI. Newsletter — <br />VII Adjourn- <br />
