Senior Center Advisory Council <br />Monday, December 18, 2006 <br />10 am Senior Center 350 Evans <br />Present were: Holly VanderVelden, Mary Heck, Clinton Yancey, Jay Grammond, Gail <br />Johnson, Millicent Busch, Sue Kostanshek, Charlotte Strei, and Annette Bonin <br />I. Sue called the meeting to order at 10 am. Minutes reviewed. <br />II. Financial statement — Reviewed. Funds may not have been taken out for <br />CAER dinner. <br />III. Old Business <br />A. December Main Event — Dec. 22nd — Pictures with Santa & Mrs. Claus at <br />D/S brunch. Carl Bloomquist took pictures and put on a CD. <br />B. Review of December Events — Many groups came to perform during the <br />holidays. New diabetic support group is going very well. <br />C. Silvertones Report — Performance at Lions Park on 12/13 for First Friends <br />Club and 12/20 at Sr Dining Christmas Dinner. January 18th performance <br />at River Oaks in Anoka. <br />D. Community Ed. Report — New brochure is at the printer. New classes <br />include genealogy, computer basics, CPR for seniors and beginning <br />bridge. There will be a WWII history night in April. <br />E. January Main Event —Winter Gala, no date set yet. Will be co -sponsored <br />with Senior Dining. <br />F. Other — Fashion show on Jan. 25th. "Forward to the Future" meeting on <br />Jan. 30that 10 am at the library. "Brunch and Learn" series starts in <br />February on the 1't Tuesday. Senior Law program will offer a monthly <br />series of programs. Cribbage tournament on Jan. 29d'. Additional walking <br />begins on Thursdays at 1 pm. <br />IV. New Business <br />A. Other Events in the Area — Garden Expo April 28th <br />B. Outings New outing added — Feb. Turtle Lake Casino, cost $2. Old Log <br />Theater in March and a Chocolate Lovers Tour in April. <br />C. February Main Event — Possibly a Beach or Sand n' Surf party. Will <br />co-sponsor with Senior Dining. <br />D. Other — The conversion of the old library to a senior center was discussed. <br />June Fenstra made a motion to "hire a grant person to assist the senior center <br />staff in finding and pursuing current aria potential grant opportunities for the <br />library renovation". Motion was seconded by Gail Johnson and approved. <br />Office computer purchase was also approved. <br />V. Next Council Meeting — Wednesday, January 17th, 10 AM <br />VI. Newsletter — Being printed. <br />V 11 Adjourn- <br />
