193rd Extension

Page 2 of2

not attend tomorrow night's meeting, I wish to share my general thoughts with you, and I ask that
you pass them along to the City Engineer.

I appreciate the City's need to create East/West corridors. The extension of 193rd would make it
easier for us to access the Coburn's/Cub area of Elk River. I am not opposed to an extension per
se, but I am concerned that the extension could greatly interfere with our home and family.

We have lived in our present home since 1995. We moved to Elk River from Anoka purchasing
10 acres to enjoy a more rural life style (horses, 4 wheelers, kids running around, etc.) Our 5 kids
definitely consider this home. Several years ago, when we discussed looking for another parcel
of land, we encountered resistance from the kids. Lisa and I also like our location so We decided
to invest in our property. About 3 years ago, we constructed a 72 x 40 heated out building which
we use for home schooling our kids, playing basketball, hosting neighborhood parties, and a
variety of other events.

Last year, we invested again in the property making the decision that we would, God willing, live
here for the next 20 plus years. We put an addition on the house that doubled the square footage
and changed the front of the house adding a wrap around porch so we could enjoy the views
from the front and east of our property.

Since adding these improvements, I have learned of the possible extension. One plan, as I
understand it, is to direct the extension on a straight line passing across the front of our home on
a diagonal line. This would bifurcate our property and bring four lanes of traffic through our front
and side yard faced by our wrap around porch. This would severely affect our property and
disturb our family and home so we ask that this option not be considered.

Considering the current traffic flows and the minimization of the impact on all neighbors, it seems
that an extension of 193rd with a realignment down Tyler Street to Co Rd. 13 would have the
least impact on all property owners. Most the houses on Tyler affected by this project are
positioned to maximize their views to the West or in the direction of 193rd if extended more or
less in a straight fashion. I anticipate that those living on Tyler Street would rather have the traffic
on Tyler Street than running through their backyards on proposed 193rd. Please advise as to
whether this is a consideration or not. I would also appreciate receiving diagrams of the possible
alignments considered.

I know the process is in the early stages, and I desire for the City to consider the impact of this
project on the residents in the area before it moves too far along.

Very truly yours,
G.
