Develop Houlton Farm Property. <br />Strategies: <br />• Develop hunting rules that allow for trail-based, non-hunting recreation <br />during hunting season. <br />• A Planning Committee will oversee planning efforts such as a restoration <br />management plan and a hunting plan. The hunting plan needs to be approved <br />by the DNR to ensure the safety of adjacent property owners. <br />• Provide for passive, natural resource based recreation such as: natural surface <br />walking trails, informal picnicking, shore fishing, cross country skiing, and <br />primitive unpaved parking areas. <br />• Provide river access with natural surface trail connections to the river. <br />4. Improve Bailey Point Nature Preserve. <br />Strategies: <br />• Retain natural character of the Bailey Point Nature Preserve by completing <br />a restoration management plan for the park. <br />• Utilize Bailey Point Nature Preserve for nature-based recreation <br />programming. <br />• Allow low-impact, outdoor recreational use and nature observation at Bailey <br />Point Nature Preserve. <br />• Provide rustic structures (trail barriers, benches, picnic tables, shelter, <br />fishing platforms, boardwalks, bridges, trash/recycling receptacles, and <br />informational kiosks) as identified in the Bailey Point Nature Preserve <br />Master Plan. <br />• Construct paved trails to follow concept (Figure 5.8). <br />Page 130 of 240
