Site size and shape
. Future expand ability
. Identity
. Access

Based on our initial review of the sites currently being considered for the YMCA, site (C)
recommended in the Site Feasibility Report prepared by KKE Architects is the best proposed site
for the Elk River Library. Based on our understanding of the YMCA program of an approxiamately
60,000 sf building with the required 400 parking stalls, and based on the configuration of each of
the sites, we do not believe that either of the YMCA site options is large enough to meet the
added requirements of the proposed Library program. Not only would there be a loss in library
program but the future expandability for both the YMCA and the Library may also be limited with
either of the proposed YMCA sites.

Based on these findings, we remain confident that the recommended site not only accommodates
the proposed program best, but also successfully addresses needs for the future, contributes to
the concept of a Civic Center, and creates a highly visible and easily accessible location for the
new Elk River Library.
