<br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />ELK RIVER PARK BOARD MEETING <br /> <br />March 21, 1974 <br /> <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Les Derr, Gene Schuldt <br /> <br />MEMBERS ABSENT: Wilbur Daniels <br /> <br />GUESTS: Tony Mikols, Elk River Jaycees <br /> <br />Fourth of July Celebration: Tony Mikols representing the Elk River Jaycees, presented <br />tentative plans for community July 4th Celebration. His points were as follows: <br /> <br />1. Jaycees lost money on last year's July 4th because there wasn't enough income source <br />to offset costs. <br /> <br />2. Evening teenage dance. No admission charge. <br /> <br />3. Adult dance. No admission charges. Evening. <br /> <br />4. Water events. No water sking, but other events. <br /> <br />5. Horse show at the fairgrounds. <br />6. Foodstand. Same as past years. <br /> <br />7. At least four, possibly six, satellite rest rooms. <br /> <br />8. Park to be sprayed previous day for mosquitos. <br /> <br />9. Jaycees will handle park cleanup. <br /> <br />10. Want to bring in a kids carnival. <br /> <br />11. Evening fireworks. <br /> <br />12. Liability insurance-extra crowd insurance. <br /> <br />13. Beer license-needed as major source of income. No bottles, plastic cups only. <br /> <br />14. Requested life guards and open swimming beach in the afternoon. <br /> <br />15. Temporary water line extended to the park shelter. <br /> <br />16. Need additional electrical power. <br /> <br />Park Board was in agreement with tentative plans of Jaycees. Permission was granted to bring <br />in the Kid's Carnival. Park Board is willing to back up Jaycees on life guard expense <br />if Jaycees do not make enough profit to cover it. Park Board was in favor of granting <br />a beer license for this day only. <br />
