Elk s - <br />River <br />Request for Action <br />To Item Number <br />Ma Tor and CinT Council 5.7 <br />Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by <br />Consent anuar r 3, 2023 Suzanne Fischer, Environmental S ecial Pro ects DirectoY <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Financial Contribution to the Arvig Broadband Cal Pormer, Cit r Administrator <br />Expansion Project Reviewed by <br />Action Requested <br />Adopt, b T motion, a resolution of support for a 25% contribution local cost share for an Arvig Broadband <br />Expansion PYoject. <br />Background/Discussion <br />Sherburne Count has developed a Broadband Access Grant Program to help broadband pro-iders eYpand <br />their services to those locations where it may not be economically= feasible without a public-private partnership. <br />Arvighas submitted a proposal to bring high-speed broadband service to approYimately- 42 homes and <br />businesses within the Cit= of Elk River. <br />The Sherburne County= grant program requires a local financial participation to leverage additional funds for <br />the Yequested project. For this project, Arvig has applied for $167,795.38 in grant assistance (total project <br />cost of $542,651). Sherburne County= is willing to contribute 75% or, $162,500, and has requested the cit= to <br />contribute the remaining 25%.
