City of <br />Elk -- <br />RiVer City of Elk River <br />City Council <br />Resolution 23- <br />A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Elk River in Support of <br />Sherburne County's Broadband Expansion Projectto Under/Unserved <br />Areas of the City <br />WHEREAS, the Cit=of Elk River recognizes that access to high-speed broadband <br />ser rice has become a necessitv foY businesses and residents to be able to access critical <br />services and participate in the current marketplace; and <br />WHEREAS, Sherburne Count- has developed a Broadband Access Grant Program to <br />help broadband providers ezpand their services to those locations where it ma= not be <br />economicall- feasible without a public-private partnership; and <br />WHEREAS, Sherburne CountyT has received a broadband expansion grant application <br />from Arvig that vould bring high-speed broadband service to approximatel T 42 (27 <br />unserved and 156 underserved), homes and businesses within the Cityr of Elk River: and <br />WHEREAS, Sherburne County has limited funds available for its Grant Program and <br />requests a 25% contribution to the total project cost of $542,651.00 from the City of <br />Elk Ri`-er. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED b T the CityT Council of the CityT of Elk <br />River, Minnesota, as follows: The Cit- of Elk River supports Sherburne Count-'s <br />proposed grant to Arvig and will contribute $41,950.00 from its American Rescue P1anAct <br />ARPA) funds to the grant <br />Passed and adopted this 3`d dayr of Januaryr 2023. <br />John J.
