City of <br />Elk - <br />River <br />To <br />City Council <br />Meeting Date <br />December 16, 2024 <br />Item Description <br />Recognition of Councilmember Matt Westgaard <br />Request for Action <br />Item Number <br />6.3 <br />Prepared By <br />Tina Allard, City Clerk <br />Reviewed by <br />Cal Portner <br />Tina Allard <br />Action Requested <br />Mayor Dietz will read and present a plaque to Councilmember Matt Westgaard recognizing his service to the <br />city. <br />Background/Discussion <br />The City Council is invited to speak regarding Matt's service to the community. <br />Matt began his first term for Ward 3 in January 2009. After redistricting, he was re-elected to Ward 2 for a <br />term beginning January 2013. He has also served as a commissioner and council liaison with the Economic <br />Development Authority, Energy City Commission, Heritage Preservation Commission, Ice Arena <br />Commission, Utilities Commission, Planning Commission, Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission, and the <br />Ice Arena Commission. <br />Matt's experience and expertise have been invaluable in constructing and improving city facilities and amenities <br />throughout his service. He was an active member of the Public Works Facility planning team, the Active Elk <br />River Parks/Facilities Project, and the acquisition of Bailey Point Nature Preserve and W.H.
