��i <br />Elk River <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Dave Ninow —Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />December 10, 2024 <br />6.1h <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Delivered a water meter, installed a Smart Point module, and took curb stop ties for 6 <br />new water services. <br />• Completed 20 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br />• Completed 18 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br />• Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Diesel Generation Plant to the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. <br />• The pump, motor, shaft, and pipe have been removed from Well #3 for preventive <br />maintenance inspection. <br />• As required, a ir:qtl:lificatl:lioin uuai oostl ed ::sir: �;od4l irne&�a that the water service line <br />material inventory for Elk River is publicly available. Notifications were also sent to <br />owners of water service lines that have been identified as galvanized or material listed <br />as unknown at this time. A number of calls have come in with questions on the <br />inventory. <br />• A new fire hydrant was installed on the north side of Highway 10, east of Main Street. <br />This hydrant was added to have the ability to flush a dead-end 16" water main there. <br />City staff expressed interest in having the hydrant installed near the sanitary sewer lift <br />station so they could use it for cleaning the lift station. The city will contribute to the <br />cost of the new hydrant. <br />• Work continues switching the water Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) <br />system from radio communication to fiber optic communication utilizing our fiber ring. <br />The controls for wells three, eight, and nine are now switched over to fiber <br />communications. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />151 <br />
