��i Elk River Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING TO: FROM: ERMU Commission Dave Ninow —Water Superintendent MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: December 10, 2024 6.1h SUBJECT: Staff Update ACTION REQUESTED: None DISCUSSION: • Delivered a water meter, installed a Smart Point module, and took curb stop ties for 6 new water services. • Completed 20 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples o All confirmed negative for Coliform Bacteria o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH • Completed 18 routine fluoride samples o All samples met MDH standards o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report • Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Diesel Generation Plant to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. • The pump, motor, shaft, and pipe have been removed from Well #3 for preventive maintenance inspection. • As required, a ir:qtl:lificatl:lioin uuai oostl ed ::sir: �;od4l irne&�a that the water service line material inventory for Elk River is publicly available. Notifications were also sent to owners of water service lines that have been identified as galvanized or material listed as unknown at this time. A number of calls have come in with questions on the inventory. • A new fire hydrant was installed on the north side of Highway 10, east of Main Street. This hydrant was added to have the ability to flush a dead-end 16" water main there. City staff expressed interest in having the hydrant installed near the sanitary sewer lift station so they could use it for cleaning the lift station. The city will contribute to the cost of the new hydrant. • Work continues switching the water Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system from radio communication to fiber optic communication utilizing our fiber ring. The controls for wells three, eight, and nine are now switched over to fiber communications. Page 1 of 2 151
