Allegiant's goal is to maintain four water technicians working during the duration
of our project. The residential water meter exchange work is approximately 65% complete.
To date we have made 57 residential repairs utilizing master plumber Karsten Nelson (Archer
Plumbing) with a running total of $20,210.36 in repair costs. This is about a 1.57% repair rate
based on the total number of installed water meters. In April 2024, the Commission voted to
absorb these residential costs at an estimate of $300 per job for approximately 100-150 homes,
totaling between $30-$45K.
Allegiant's commercial meter subcontractor (Archer Plumbing) has completed 67 commercial
meter replacements and 26 retrofits as of December 2. The commercial water meter exchange
work is about 20% complete.
As of December 2, Allegiant has completed 1,523 residential electric meter replacements. They
plan to have two technicians on the project most of the time and expect to exchange between
700 and 1,000 meters per technician each month. The residential electric meter exchange work
is about 15% completed. Starting on December 7, installations are being done Monday through
Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Communication
of these times is on our website along with other FAQs.
Overall, approximately 38% of the total AMI meters have been installed to date.
There was an incident during the replacement of a commercial service meter on Triangle Road.
Due to a non-functioning street side internal valve and no meter bypass as required by city
code being present at this business, ERMU water personnel was requested by the Allegiant
plumber to operate the customer owned 2" gate valve in the street for the service line. While
attempting to close this valve, the gate valve failed and began to leak. The repair has been
completed at an approximate cost of $16,000.
138
