Adopt, by motion, Resolution 24-44 to discontinue and disband the Elk River Library Board. Background/Discussion The Elk River Library Board is tasked with overseeing the physical library facility and grounds and promoting the best possible use of library resources, including the meeting room. The board played a significant role in the discovery and planning of a new library in 2005. With the transition to a new facility, there have been fewer requests for capital improvements. In 2011, the city established a Capital Improvement Plan to identify all capital replacement needs for city properties over a 20-year period. With the plan in place, nearly all building/grounds improvements were scheduled with funding sources established by city staff. At their July 23, 2024, meeting, the Library Board discussed their intended purpose/mission and voted unanimously to discontinue and disband the board. They indicated there were other ways members could better support the library, such as joining the Friends of the Library or volunteering on their own. Due to this action, the Library Board will not meet again. The City Council should approve their final meeting minutes for the official public record.
