Subject: Invitation to planning meeting for Elk River Electric Vehicle Event The Initiative Foundation has two funders that are interesting in providing support for elevating economic opportunities associated with clean energy or carbon sequestration or reduction. The goal is to "depoliticize" the conversation; we don't care whether you "believe in climate science," but are excited to help communities in central Minnesota capitalize on green jobs and investment. One example was an "electric vehicle day" that we funded last summer through the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation (GSDC), which also engaged Xcel Energy, Gilleland Chevrolet and Eich (VW) Motors. We had about 13 EVs at the St. Cloud Civic Center on a lovely July Saturday, and hosted more than 400 test drives. For each driver, a donation was made to the local VEX robotics club as an extra incentive to participate. The event also featured a range of other booths and displays from local employers: • Columbia Gear (ball bearings for wind turbines) • New Flyer Buses (Electric buses) • City of St. Cloud Wastewater Treatment Plant (large solar garden) • City of Sartell Wastewater Treatment Plant (methane capture) • Xcel Energy (planning to decarbonize at Sherco) As a long time official "energy city," we believe that Elk River is well positioned to similarly boast of your green credentials. � would like to convene local leaders interested in this conversation on Wednesday, November 9th, 10 —11:30 a.m. or 1— 2:30 p.m. Please reply to this note as to whether one time or the other works better for you. We also need a location to meet, so the first person to offer their space is "the winner." You are welcome to share this email with others, although as our first conversation no one need feel concerned if this day doesn't work.
