-5,i <br />cm or <br />Elk Meeting of the Elk River <br />liver ' Energy City Commission <br />Held at the Elk River City Hall <br />Wednesday, May 18, 2022 <br />Members Present: Chair Tom Sagstetter, Commissioners Vern Iverson, Casey Mahon, <br />Trish Curtis, and Jennifer Wagner <br />Members Absent: Commissioners Aaron Brixius, Becky Herbert, and Travis Leigh. <br />Others Present: Mark Peterson, GRE staff; new commissioners Reggie VanLonden, <br />and Jonny Cappaert. <br />Staff Present: Suzanne Fischer, Environmental Services/Special Projects Director <br />1. Call Meeting to Order <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Energy City <br />Commission was called to order by Chair Sagstetter at 8:20 a.m. <br />2. Pledge of Allegiance <br />Chair Sagstetter led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />2.5 Member Introductions <br />Members introduced themselves for new Commissioners VanLonden and Cappaert. <br />3. Consider Agenda <br />Agenda updated to move item 5.2 Commissioner Brixius update to the next meeting <br />as he was not able to attend the meeting. This item was replaced by a Rotary <br />Presentation update. Commissioner Steinbeck motioned approval and seconded by <br />Commissioner Herbert. <br />4. Consider Minutes <br />Consider minutes from the April 5, 2022, special meeting. Minutes approved, motion <br />by Commissioner Wagner, second by Commissioner Iverson <br />5.1 Review Mission, Vision & Values Statements <br />Commissioner Herbert provided a brief update about ISD 728 as they continue to <br />struggle with staffing shortages. She stated they have approximately 100 permanent <br />positions currently open in the district and are struggling to fill them. School staff <br />continue to be stretched thin and are dealing with the current conditions as best <br />possible. <br />Commissioner Iverson mentioned that the ECC should have a Vision statement. <br />Education is the key, and some need a chiropractic adjustment in our thinking <br />because sustainability effects budgets. Commissioner Wagner stated the <br />commissioner needs to be able to explain `why do we do these things.' I can look <br />
