The Elk River Vision
A welcoming community with revolutionary and spirited resourcefulness, exceptional service, and community
engagement that encourages and inspires prosperity

Request for Action

To
Parks and Recreation Commission
Item Number
6.3

Meeting Date
July 10, 2024
Prepared By
Joe Stremcha, Business Services Director/Assistant
City Administrator

Item Description
Disc Golf
Reviewed by
Joe Stremcha
Cal Portner

Action Requested
Discuss scheduling a site tour and Work Session to discuss potential amenities for inclusion on a desired disc
golf course.

Background/Discussion
Staff researched the feasibility of utilizing Camp Cozy for a future disc golf course. This Camp Cozy is
implementing a Wildlife Restoration Plan in partnership with the Friends of the Mississippi River and any
proposed disc golf course at this location will conflict with that restoration project. Camp Cozy is not a viable
site for a disc golf course due to the grants obtained for the wildlife restoration plan limiting development in
the area. Staff recommends proceeding with scheduling a site tour of the remaining viable sites of Meadowvale
Heights Park and Burr Oak Park to weight the pros and cons of each location.

Financial Impact
None.

Mission/Policy/Goal
Work with citizens to achieve goals.

Attachments
1.
