Ji <br />Elk River amft . <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Mark Hanson —General Manager <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />August 13, 2024 <br />6.1a <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Staff is revising the system engineer position description which will replace the <br />engineering manager position, both of which were held by Chris Kerzman over the <br />course of his tenure. The position will report to the technical services superintendent <br />and will be an individual contributor role. Once the job description is finalized, it will be <br />sent to Baker Tilly for evaluation and pay grade assignment. Staff will then post the <br />position in accordance with our regular hiring process. <br />• We hosted our second company -wide training session on Thursday, August 1, with <br />facilitator, Lisa Negstad. The focus of the session was self-awareness and effective <br />conversations. Employee feedback was very positive with the majority of the feedback <br />centering around the value of the content because of its relevance both professionally <br />and personally. <br />• The Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (MMPA) Board of Directors met on July 23, <br />2024, at the Le Sueur Fire Hall in Le Sueur, Minnesota with some participants joining via <br />video conference. Commissioner Stewart and I attended. The public summary follows: <br />• The Board reviewed the Agency's operating and financial performance for June <br />2024. <br />• Clean Energy Choice program participation increased to 5.6%. <br />• Management provided a preliminary projection of MMPA's rates for 2025, <br />indicating there will be no increase in budgeted rates from 2024 to 2025. <br />• The Board discussed the status of renewable projects the Agency is pursuing. <br />• Following the Board meeting, MMPA held its annual dinner meeting with city <br />officials (Commissioners Stewart, Bell, Zerwas and I attended). <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />101 <br />
