<br />SEVERE WEATHER <br /> <br />Severe weather events such as tornadoes and blizzards can pose a significant threat to safety. It is important <br />to familiarize yourself with the following emergency procedures in the event of severe weather. <br /> <br />Blizzard: <br /> <br />Consideration to cancel events early if a blizzard is threatening the area should be made as early as possible to <br />allow for safe travel for visitors and staff. <br /> <br />Tornadoes: <br /> <br />1. When a tornado warning is issued, take shelter in the designated tornado shelter area immediately. <br /> <br />Tornado Watch <br /> A Watch means…Conditions are present for severe weather, such as a tornado, to occur. <br /> <br /> Continue normal routine. Be alert for changing weather conditions. <br /> <br /> <br />Tornado Warning <br />A Warning means…A funnel cloud has been spotted, or a tornado has touched the ground, or winds in <br />excess of 70 mph have been recorded. Outdoor warning sirens will be sounded. <br />When a tornado warning is issued, take shelter in the designated tornado shelter area immediately. <br /> <br />Upon receiving notification, FT Center Staff will make an announcement over the intercom. The <br />announcement may read, “A tornado warning has been issued for the Elk River area.
