Purpose. <br />The Ppark and (Recreation eCommission is established to review and t-e-make recommendations to the Ceity <br />eCouncil on the development and organization of the city parks and c-iat-y-recreation programs. The scope of the <br />commission shall consist of advising the Ceity eCouncil fegarding-on matters relevant to the—ci�parks and <br />recreation functions ef the eity. The commission shall participate in the planning for development and acquisition <br />of parks and recreation programs. <br />Sec. 2-234. Powers and duties. <br />(a) The ^,rl( ,^a r^Gr^;*i^^ Commission shall prepare, hold hearings on and recommend to the eCity i Council <br />such plans, programs and policies a-s-it deems necessary to carry out the purposes of this divis;onthe parks <br />and recreation degafRieFAclepartment. Such powers shall include, but not be limited to, the study of and <br />recommendation to the city council on the following: <br />(1) Land acquisition for parks, trails, and recreation facilities. and re ffea*ien purposes <br />(2) Plans for and major improvements in city parks, trails, and recreation facilities. <br />(3) Rules and requirements for conduct of and in parks *r-"- and recreation facilities. <br />(4) Plans and programs relating to the design and programming of city parks. trails and recreation <br />facilities. <br />(5) Prop esed aF—iia im..co _Eien secE.— _cc t wti9FA a Rage MeAt-pivr�r: <br />(j&) Development of a comprehensive city parkLtrail, and recreation plan and mak_g+ recommendations <br />for plan ont#e implementation ef�, this plan. <br />(6 ) Collaborate with City staff and local experts to create a comprehensive natural resources management <br />plan. <br />(7) Assisting-ia m ith the promotion of city parks, trails, and recreation facilities. <br />(8) Conducting r edi^ cr ectiens of city parks and FeyiewingProvide feedback on -existing situations and <br />makging recommendations on improvements of city parks, trails, recreation facilities, and recreation <br />programs. <br />(249) CollaborateWeFI(ing with a VaFie#y-efgxternal organizations 4+-to ensure+ the offering of an <br />appropriate array of recreation opportunities for the youth and adults of the city. <br />(10-1) Collaborate with City staffPafK <br />supeFintendeicil to ensure the proper maintenance and development of city parks and park facilities. <br />(11-2) Collaborate with Werk with the Ceity adMiniStFative staff in ensuring that appropriate park properties <br />are obtained by the city during the city development platting process. <br />(123) Any other plans and programs as may be assigned by the Ceity eCouncil from time to time. <br />
