��i <br />Elk River , <br />Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />ERMU Commission <br />Dave Ninow —Water Superintendent <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />June 4, 2024 <br />6.1h <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Update <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />None <br />DISCUSSION: <br />• Delivered three new water meters, installed a Smart Point module, and took curb stop <br />ties. <br />• Completed 20 BACTI/Total Chlorine Residual Samples <br />o All confirmed negative for coliform bacteria <br />o Bacteriological/Disinfectant Residual Monthly Report submitted to the MDH <br />• Completed 22 routine fluoride samples <br />o All samples met MDH standards <br />o Submitted MDH Fluoride Report <br />o Completed one MDH validation fluoride sample <br />• Submitted Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Diesel Generation Plant to the <br />Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. <br />• Hydrant flushing went well again this year. With much appreciated help from inventory <br />& procurement staff, lineworkers, GIS/mapping technicians, and electrical technicians, <br />flushing was completed on May 22. With the number of fire hydrants in the distribution <br />system now over 1,300 and adding more every year, next year we are planning some <br />changes in the process, and the amount of time scheduled for flushing. <br />• A water department seasonal employee started on May 21. Eric Plude will assist with <br />fire hydrant maintenance, water main valve exercising, and GIS mapping of water <br />system infrastructure. <br />• We have transferred Bill from full-time Water Operator to full-time Water Utility <br />Worker. <br />• The planned repair and improvement work at Auburn Street Water Tower for this year <br />has been completed. <br />• The Well 9 filter valve that had been leaking has been replaced and the filter is back in <br />service. <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />136 <br />
