i
Elk River ,
Municipal Utilities UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO:
FROM:
ERMU Commission
Tony Mauren — Governance & Communications Manager
MEETING DATE:
AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
June 4, 2024
6.1d
SUBJECT:
Staff Update
ACTION REQUESTED:
None
DISCUSSION:
• In June, all customers will receive the summer 2024 edition of The Current newsletter.
This newsletter provides customers with information about the Excellence in Reliability
recognition, residential solar, SmartHub, location services, the Water Quality Report,
and more. All customers will also receive an informational flyer from the City of Elk River
about Emerald Ash Borers. These inserts are attached.
• For a July insert, ERMU is once again partnering with the City's Housing and
Redevelopment Authority (HRA) to distribute the attached Home Improvement
Resources flyer to all residential customers in the Elk River urban services area. The flyer
highlights grants, low -interest loans, and weatherization programs from the City as well
as Tri-CAP. We last partnered with the HRA in February 2023 to distribute the flyer and
they found it to be one of their most effective outreach efforts.
• In addition to topics from the newsletter, social media posts this month feature the
commission meeting notice, ERMU's scholarship winner, lawn watering guidelines, and
the Juneteenth closure.
• Scholarship winner Hayden Robinson is unable to join us for the June meeting. With the
meeting being held a week earlier we are right in the middle of graduation ceremony
week. Hayden passed on this message, "Thank you very much for selecting me, it means
a lot as it helps me make college more affordable," and shared that he will be attending
the Carlson School of Management to major in business, with a long-term goal of
earning his MBA in accounting.
• 1 am continuing to gather materials and provide feedback to KJ Branding for the field
services building wall art project. Final designs will be provided when available. The
engineering manager and I have also spoken with three acoustic paneling suppliers in
preparation for a 2025 budgeted project in the building.
ATTACHMENTS:
• Bill Insert — The Current Newsletter — Summer 2024
• Bill Insert — City of EII< River Emerald Ash Borer Flyer
• July Bill Insert — Home Improvement Resources Flyer
Page 1 of 1
126
