Heritage Preservation Commission Minutes Page 3 <br />March 21, 2024 <br />----------------------------- <br />Mr. Carlton indicated the bank dam restoration project that was discussed last year will not be moving <br />forward as it is cost prohibited. <br />Mr. Carlton stated the kiosks at Houlton and Bailey Point have a banner side that could be used for <br />historical stories and insight about what happened in these particular areas before they became parks. He <br />asked if there were any commissioners interested in putting together a narrative for the kiosks. He stated the <br />stories could be changed out from time to time. <br />Commissioner Griffiths stated he would be interested in the Houlton kiosk. He stated he would put <br />something together. Commissioner Mauren stated he could put something together about Bailey Point. <br />Mr. Carlton discussed there may be possible packet distribution changes in the future. He stated at the next <br />meeting, the HPC will review their bylaws for any updates and will email them prior to the next meeting. <br />He stated the water tower kiosk will also be on the next meeting agenda. <br />Chair Lindberg stated he has several history books he's willing to borrow to anyone interested. <br />Commissioner Campbell stated she volunteered for the spring history minute and needed a topic. <br />Chair Lindberg suggested the history of transportation in Elk River as a topic and he could email <br />information to Commissioner Campbell. <br />Commissioner Griffiths asked about receiving an @E1kRiverMN.gov email address. Mr. Carlton stated he <br />would set one up for him. <br />7.
