<br />VILLAGE OF ELK RIVER COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 9, 1919 <br /> <br />th <br />Special meeting of the Council was held at the Office of the Elk River Lumber Co May 9 1919 <br /> <br />Members Present as follows. <br />J.H. Virgin President <br />E.J. Keegan Trustee <br />Bert Carr Trustee <br />Wm Norval Clerk <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by the President 8:30 P.M. <br /> <br />The following resolution was offered by the President J.H. Virgin all voting aye. <br /> <br />Resolved that the four members of the Vill Council be a committee to visit the City of Mpls on <br />th <br />Tuesday May 13 for the purpose of purchasing a chemical fire truck for the Village of Elk River, <br />the council deeming it necessary to purchase said truck soon as possible in case of fires in certain <br />parts of the Village where water can not be secured. <br /> <br />Motion by the President, seconded by Bert Carr Trustee and carried all voting ‘aye’ that the Council <br />proceed to bond the Village of Elk River for the sum of forty thousand dollars $40,000 the same to <br />be divided as follows $8000.00 to be used to pay off the debt of the Village, consisting of unpaid <br />warrants and other indebtedness. And the balance $32000.00 to be applied toward procuring a <br />system of water works for the Village of Elk River to supply water for residences and also for fire <br />protection. <br /> <br />Resolved and carried that this committee while in the City visit some bonding houses and ascertain <br />at what rate of interest bonds could be secured for as well as other matters pertaining to the same <br />and that the said bonding companys forward in writing their proposals and contracts to the <br />President of the Village Council at Elk River Minn. <br /> <br />There being no more business Council adjourned <br />William Norval <br />Village Clerk <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
