Staff reviewed <br />the pYoposal and recommended incYeasing the peYmitted sign height to 30-feet above the gYade of the adjacent e�t <br />Yamp - an increase to appro�mately 41-feet. <br />The Commission held a public hearing where one resident spoke in opposition to the requested 61-foot sign due <br />to concerns `vith visibilinT in the nearb�T residential neighborhoods. The applicant also spoke and requested an <br />increase from the staff recommendation to at least 45-feet. <br />After receiving public comments, the chair closed the public hearing, and the Commission discussed the request. <br />The group ��as generally not supportive of the 61-foot request but agreed that additional sign height was <br />appropriate due to the access changes to Highwa�T 169. The Commission asked staff to complete additional <br />research regarding sign size <br />TriRI.E 1 Apprs�priatc Gcttcr Fiea�;ht and Si�;rt I.rKation <br />recommendations from professional <br />organizations and return `vith a <br />recommendation based on the research. <br />TheyT unanimouslyT continued their <br />discussion to Dember 19, 2023. <br />Staff searched for recommendations <br />regarding sign height and size based on <br />vehicle speeds and found a handful of <br />recommendations. A publication from The <br />Transportation Research Board provides a <br />table for sign height recommendations that <br />includes vehicle speeds.
