ilk
River
December 28, 2021
Laura Kangas
Arvig, Account Executive
26 6th Ave. N.
St. Cloud, MN 56303
Dear Ms. Kangas:
This letter is to express support of broadband expansion within the City of Elk River's urban service area.
Like many rural areas in Minnesota and across the country, the city has areas with no or limited access to
high-speed internet. As a result, some residents in our community lack the business, education, and
recreational opportunities that those with broadband experience.
Internet has become a quality -of -life issue for many residents with school age children, young; adults
attending college and those who operate businesses out of their homes. Without funded broadband
infrastructure projects, these areas would remain unserved for the foreseeable future.
It is my understanding that Tekstar dba Arvig, wishes to use federal funding from the American Rescue Flan
Act to expand internet access. This project supports the city's commitment to expand broadband in the
community and will make a tremendous impact for the families living in the unserved and underserved areas.
The City of Elk River is excited to partner with Tekstar/Arvig in this grant application and will follow
the state law guidelines for the Border -to -Border Broadband Grant Program.
Sincerely,
Suzarnt-te M.
