An em�lo�-er shall not disch�lr�e, disci�line,�enalize, interfere �vith, or other�vise retaliate or discriminate <br />����unst an em�lo�-ee for assertin�arentalleatTe rights �r remedies. <br />Adoptive Parents <br />Adoptive parents have the same leave opportunity €Fr�as biological parents (see Pregnancy and Parenting <br />Leave). The leave must be for the purpose of arranging the child's placement or caring for the child after <br />placement Leave must begin before or at the time of the child's placement in the adoptive home. <br />Reasonable �J-pp�i�Work Time for Nursing Mothers <br />Nursing mothers and lactatin� em�lo�-ees are provided reasonable ��break time to express milk for <br />her ulfant child. The ��ud break times can run concurrentl�- «-ith an�- break time alread�- .-nro�Tided. The <br />city will provide a private room (other than a restroom) as close as possible to the employee's work area <br />with access to an electrical outlet. <br />Reasonable Accommodations for Health Conditions Relating to Pregnancy <br />The city will provide female employees who request reasonable accommodation with the following for <br />her health conditions related to her pregnancy or childbirth. <br />More frequent restroom, food, and water breaks <br />Seating <br />Limits on lifting over 20 pounds <br />The city will engage in an interactive process with respect to an employee's request for a reasonable <br />accommodation, including, but not limited to, temporary transfer to a less strenuous or hazardous <br />position, should one be available, unless such accommodation imposes an undue hardship on the cit��. <br />School Conference Leave Policy <br />Employees -�-',� -�_�~'- ��,�� �~'��,� �:-~� may take up to sixteen (16 hours) unpaid leave during any 12- <br />month period to attend school conferences or classroom activities related to the employee's child <br />(through secondary school), pro�=ided the conferences or classroom activities cannot be scheduled during <br />non-work hours. If an employee's cluld receives childcare services or attends a pre-kindergarten regular <br />or special education program, the employee may use the leave time to attend a conference, or acti�rity <br />related to the employee's child, or to observe and monitor the services and program, provided the <br />conference, activity, or observation cannot be scheduled during non-work hours. <br />When the need for leave under this section is foreseeable, the employee must provide reasonable prior <br />notice of the leave to his or her immediate supenrisor and make a reasonable effort to schedule the leave <br />so as not to unduly disrupt cit�r business. <br />Employees may choose to use vacation leave for this absence but are not required to do so. <br />Bone Marrow/Organ Donation Leave <br />Employees who work an a�Terage of twent�- (20) or more hours per week who seek to undergo a <br />medical procedure to donate bone marrow or an organ or partial organ may take up to fort�- (40) hours <br />of paid lea�=e. The forn- (40) hours is over and above the amount of accrued time the employee has <br />earned. The city may require verification by a physician of the purpose and length of each leave <br />requested by the employee. If a medical determination indicates the employee does not qualify as a <br />donor, the paid leave is not forfeited. <br />Page 32�66 <br />
