61 Friends of the Mississippi River Camp Cozy Park NRMP <br /> <br />Management recommendations were developed for each manangement unit with the overall <br />objectives for the property focused on protecting and restoring high quality habitat by restoring <br />prairie, removing invasive plant species, and providing pollinator and wildlife habitat. Specific <br />goals include the following, and are feasible by the fifth year of the restoration process: <br /> <br />1) Eliminate woody cover in the remnant dry prairies <br />2) Eliminate non-native herbaceous species in the dry prairies <br />3) Return fire to the remnant dry prairies <br />4) Reduce or eliminate invasive woody species within the forests and woodlands <br />5) Reintroduce native herbaceous plants and shrubs in the forests and woodlands <br />6) Engage the community and local volunteers through restoration events, including <br />plantings, invasive species removals and trash clean-ups. <br />WORKPLAN <br />The following tasks and budget are based on current costs and project needs at the time the <br />NRMP was created. All parties will collaborate to determine additional future tasks. Work units <br />are shown in Figure 19. Methods for controlling non-native and invasive plant species and a list <br />of ecological contractors can be found in Appendices C and D.
