52 Friends of the Mississippi River Camp Cozy Park NRMP <br /> <br />Acres: 12.0 acres <br /> <br />MLCCS Land Cover types: 32113 Oak forest dry subtype; 32220 Lowland hardwood forest; <br />61110 Mesic prairie. <br /> <br />General Description: Unit 6 is similar in composition to Unit 5 (Appendix A); a degraded oak <br />forest with bur and red oak, green ash, silver maple, hackberry, and basswood in the canopy. <br />Buckthorn is especially dense in the shrub and understory layers between the north and south <br />dry prairies (Units 1 & 2). Other understory plants include honeysuckle, prickly ash, gray <br />dogwood, and dames rocket. In addition to invasive buckthorn, the groundcover includes native <br />species such as jack-in-the-pulpit, northern bedstraw, bloodroot, and horsetail. Emerald ash <br />borer (EAB) damage is present in the unit.
