These areas were likely <br />connected and part of a much larger mesic prairie, subsumed by oak forest (Unit 6) over time, <br />and MLCCS data also indicates a much larger extent of mesic prairie in this area. The remnants <br />of Unit 4 have less woody shrub encroachment than Unit 3. Species composition is similar,
