Multipurpose Facility Advisory Commission Minutes Page 2
June 12, 2023
-----------------------------
5. Open Forum

No one appeared for Open Forum.

6. Reports

7.1 Ice/Room/Turf Rates

Mr. Dalton presented the staff report.

Mr. Stremcha added the Minnesota Ice Arena Manager’s Association (MIAMA) rates are only a
snapshot and don’t indicate whether a facility is subsidized by the general fund.

7.2 Initial Budget Draft, Goals & Performance Measures

Mr. Dalton presented the staff report and noted the FT Center has maximized prime season ice
rentability but added there are opportunities for increased revenue in the shoulder seasons and in
summer.

He added the Food and Beverage Lead position being proposed could be a combined position that
services the FT Center in the winter/spring and the Parks and Recreation Department in the summer.
and the Maintenance Worker position would combine two current part – time positions.

Mr. Dalton concluded the budget is currently “in the red” and added utility costs have increased due
to the facility being charged at its highest demand day rate year round. He is currently working with
utilities to see if this can be adjusted.

Councilmember Wagner inquired if the expenses presented for the concession stand include credit
card fees, which Mr. Dalton confirmed.

7.3 Capital Improvement Projects

Mr. Dalton presented the staff report and noted a more refined list will be available at the August
meeting.

8.1 Two Brothers Contract

Two Brothers Owner Ben Jaremko presents a history of the company and its facility usage.
